The production method is developed around the calligraphy — thickness, connections, structure and stone settings resolved together.
Calligraphy on paper and a wearable jewel answer to different disciplines. The artwork is developed into production-ready form, and the questions that follow are engineering ones: where the metal carries weight, where a connection can be thinned without weakening it, how a setting holds a stone without interrupting the letter it sits within.
Metalwork and setting are carried out through Suearmo, the maison’s operating collaborator, whose specialists work to the drawing rather than to a standard pattern. The calligraphy is the fixed point; the making adapts to it.
It is a rare combination: calligraphic authorship and jewellery production expertise brought to the same object, by people who each answer to the other’s constraints.
The jewellery follows the calligraphy, never the other way around.
From meaning to heirloom.
Fifteen steps separate a word from the jewel that carries it. They are set down in the order they happen, because the order is the method: nothing is cut before it is drawn, and nothing is drawn before the meaning is understood.
- Story analysis The word, the verse or the memory is studied for what it means.
- Calligraphic design The founder authors an original composition by hand.
- Stone selection Suitable gemstones, and the finish they will take, are chosen with Suearmo.
- 2D design The composition is drawn flat, settling proportion and layout.
- 3D design The creation is modelled in three dimensions.
- Visualisation Renders show the result before any material is cut.
- Approval Design and stones are confirmed with the client before production begins.
- Wax prototyping A wax model proves the fit before a single stone is set.
- Production Gold casting and stone setting, by master goldsmiths.
- Polishing The creation is finished by hand, to its final lustre.
- Quality assurance Every creation is inspected against the founder's own design.
