Where European Economic Area or United Kingdom data-protection law applies, we process personal information under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Steps requested before entering into a contract and performance of a contract: to respond to a commission request, prepare a proposal, create a piece and provide delivery or aftercare.
- Legitimate interests: to operate and protect Mojawhara, communicate with clients, preserve appropriate business and provenance records and improve our services.

- Legal obligations: to maintain accounting, tax, transaction and regulatory records.
- Legal claims: where information is required to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
5. Private Commission Information
A private commission may involve meaningful personal information, including names, relationships, memories, poetry or significant life events.
We treat this information as private. It is made available only to the artist and to personnel or carefully selected partners who require it to respond to your request or create your piece.
Where possible, manufacturing and technical partners receive only the design and production information necessary to perform their work, rather than the complete personal story behind the creation.
7. International Operations and Transfers
Mojawhara LLC is established in the United States and operates internationally, including through relationships in Qatar. Our clients, partners and service providers may be located in different countries.
Your information may therefore be processed in the United States, Qatar or other countries where our service providers and production partners operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those in your country.
Where required, we use appropriate contractual and organisational safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
8. How Long We Retain Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Our usual retention periods are:
- Enquiries that do not proceed: up to 24 months after the last meaningful communication.
- Active commission information: for the duration of the commission and associated aftercare.
- Completed commission, purchase, payment, accounting and contractual records: generally 7 years after completion or for any longer period required by law.
- Authenticity, authorship, certification and provenance records: potentially for the lifetime of the creation where maintaining the record supports authenticity, ownership history, aftercare or the client’s request.
- Photographs included with an aftercare request: in accordance with the retention period applicable to the related enquiry and service record, and no longer than reasonably necessary for that purpose.
- Newsletter information: until you unsubscribe or we discontinue the relevant communications.
- A minimal suppression record may be retained after unsubscribing to ensure that we respect your request.
- Routine technical and security logs: normally no longer than 12 months, unless a longer period is needed to investigate a security incident or meet a legal obligation.
We may delete or anonymise information earlier when it is no longer required.
9. Marketing Communications
We send newsletters, private invitations and maison updates only where permitted by law and, where required, after receiving your consent.
You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting hello@mojawhara.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending service communications relating to an enquiry, appointment, commission, purchase or delivery.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
These measures may include restricted access, encrypted transmission, authentication controls, security monitoring, backups and carefully selected service providers.
